STV Player will not reliably pause or skip ads

Quite new to this malarky. It's a bit hit and miss so far. We thought we were progressing but today the STV programmes would not pause or move forwards through ads (having been aired initially more than 24 hours ago). I think we all have to accept that streaming will be the future but it is not explained how unreliable and complex/disjointed the streaming is by comparison to Sky-Q which we had before. It was sold to us as a move forwards without any warnings about the pitfalls. Anyone any tips about the STV programmes ability or otherwise to be advanced or paused. Thanks for any help. I've found this forum to be very helpful or sometimes sympathetic!

@groupcaptain From the SKy Help pages:

For the ITVX, STV Player and All4 TV apps, using voice control to skip a number of minutes is not currently supported. The fast forward speed options will depend on the app.

We're working with the app partners to make sure this experience is as consistent as possible. So that rewinding and fast forwarding is seamless and easy, no matter which app you’re in.

Fast forward ads in the ITVX app

To fast forward adverts in the ITVX app, the Right fast forward button won't work until you press the centre/OK button on the fast forward icon on screen first.

Hi @groupcaptain

Another tip for ITVX is pause the ad and press rewind. It then plays the next segment of the show. I find this much quicker than waiting for the ads to skip with FF.

Thanks! Do Sky publiscise this technique? It seems a bit of a workaround. Grateful to you for replying. Still a bit shocked by the lack of cohesivness of this product.
