Sky stream delay

My sky stream is about 1 minute behind. I'm on the second best sky wifi but yet it's still this far behind. I mainly use the tv for sport which is why it's an issue.

my contracts up in September, how do I get it changed to sky Q instead because I can't do another year of this.

Thats how streaming works, there will be a delay compared to satellite or DTT

Your WiFi speed will have no effect on live sport latency. It's just how the streaming service works. It takes longer for live sporting events to be encoded, uploaded and streamed from Sky's servers than it does to bounce off a satellite and be delivered to a dish and Q box.
If you'd prefer Q then give Sky a call - they will still switch customers having problems with Stream onto Q.

Even SkyQ has a 7-10 second delay, better than Stream, certainly. Mind the Sky Sports Low Latency channel on 922 does improve things.

@Mead1 it takes a finite time for a stream to process and toreach your puck so streams so are slightly behind satellite and terrestrial broadcastscwhich are again slightly behind the event at the venue if you want the fastest broadcast listen to FM radio.

The delay is actually about 30 seconds behind satellite according to my own tests (which match ehat Sky say themselves) but Sky are trying to reduce that delay and their llow latency channel is only roughly 7 seconds behind satellite but does appear to require more bandwidth than the standard stream so can cause issues for some customers. This is one of the reasons why I don't want stream...also because of the lack of ability to record but the Sky Q seems to have gone excessively expensive now. Stream is much cheaper but I'm just not happy with the delay.
At the moment I'm cancelling my subscription and ending up without anything. If only the would apply stream prices to Sky Q.

If you contact the Win Back team at Sky the day after your current Q service ends and the service stops, they will likely offer you a new, very good contract to stay on Q.

Live chat or phoning and asking to speak to them will usually give you a better chance of a deal.

"Even SkyQ has a 7-10 second delay" - not for me. I chat to people actually at F1 races as it's 1-2s off live proper. Still loads better than the 20s delay on Sky Stream
