i recently renewed my sky contract, all good, they emailed me confirming, but now i can't access netflix.

There's no access to Netflix on Sky+boxes.

Do you have Sky Q? Or Sky Stream/Glass?

Read through and follow the procedure in this Sky help article on activating Netflix, listed under the Sky Stream/Glass relevant section;
