I'm going to hazard a guess that somebody has spilt something on the remote at some point, most probably fizzy pop, beer or wine. They've preceded to clean it but forgot about the liquid that went inside the remote. The sugar in the liquid is now causing internal damage to the remote resulting in failure and random channel selections...

As above a power or puck settings restart often cures this.

It could also be a stuck remote button or pairing inconsistency.

If after the reboot has not fixed it, try re pairing your remote control

Press and hold 7 and 9 together for 3 seconds.

Press and hold 1 and 3 together for 3 seconds.

Wait until you see the 'Your remote is now connected' message and select Continue

More info here and a form to request a replacement remote, by clicking on 'No I still need help';

Thanks for this. I will keep it in mind but the problem seems to have resolved itself without any action from me. Interesting that only happened with the smart tv but the other 2 ordinary tvs are fine.
