Remote control Play/Pause button

The remote control combined Play/Pause button below is a button I have never used.

I always use the Circle Select button to play and pause on live TV, On demand and Apps.

Just wondering, if anyone actually uses that combined Play/Pause button for any reason that the select button cannot handle.

To me, it seems a redundant or duplicate button.

I always use the play/pause button as opposed to the select button.

I use it a lot on YouTube and streaming apps when going to make a cuppa

eapecially good on YouTube for guitar videos when I'm trying to learn a new song to play (badly!)

But as I mentioned above why do you use that rather than the select button?

I barely ever use the centre button .... even when I forward or rewind i recommence playing with the play button 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ive never used the Play/pause button.

But so often others that I help with Sky Stream and Glass ask me what that button is for.

So I just wondered if I'm missing something or it's as it seems just duplication.

The select button doesn't always pause/play its use varies by app. In YouTube for instance you have to press the select button twice to pause a video.

That's my subconscious at work ! I knew there was a reason YouTube app stood out for me .......
