I have just got a three month free trial of UHD. Sadly the puck will not let me set the output to 4k video. I am sure this is because the HDMI goes to a 4khdmi splitter with one output to the TV and one to the AVR. Don't suppose anyone has a way round this ?

Test with a direct connection between puck and television set over a known good HDMI cable. If that works then you know the problem is either the splitter doesn't support 4K at 60Hz, the cabling is problematic or the AVR is causing the resolution to be negotiated at HD rather than UHD.

Oh, and the splitter also needs to either support HDCP 2.2 or pass this through uninterrupted.

Did a couple of tests and Puck direct to TV gives 4k, as soon as the splitter is involved even with just the TV connected its back to 2k.

Its not a major thing to me, but ball park how much would an HDMI splitter that would work at 4k with the puck be ? Or any suggestions ?

Thanks

Not a lot. The main issue is that if the AVR doesn't support 4K then I don't think it's going to help, because every device detected by the puck needs to support the resolution. You may be better using straight HDMI from puck to TV and then ARC from television to AVR.

Many thanks for the continued advise. The problem in going direct to the TV then to AVR (Denon 8500) is the TV only supports Dolby Digital, nothing higher.

I have proved 100% its the HDMI splitter. I connected the Puck direct to the TV and could get 4K, then connected it direct to the AVR and got 4k. As soon as I put the HDMI splitter in place its back to 2K. This is the current splitter, although its got 4 outputs I Only use 2. Any suggestions for a cheap 2 way one that will work with the Puck ?

The unit you show there appears to be specified as 30Hz and HDMI 1.4 so cannot pass through commercial UHD content.

60Hz and HDMI 2.0 is the minimum specification required.
