Remote controller is never switched on

I received a new skybox and remote controller today. A remote is never switched on so cannot input WiFi password. I think this means Skybox is useless. Is there any other way than cancelling service?

Have you made sure all the paper tab that was in the battery compartment is out, take the back off the remote control and check and possible change the batteries to they may be dead

@AH77 When you say the remote is never switched on, what makes you think that? The Stream remote doesn't really have anything on it that indicates it is working unlike say the Sky Q remote
