I've liked it so far mostly. Better to use than Q, I think it's a better picture too. Plus having 4k on extra pucks is great. Q was awful really, mini boxes always playing up even on Ethernet. Stream seems definitely better, but I have had a few issues. It's disconnected from WiFi a few times and frozen once.

Depends entirely on how you watch TV.

If you only use one TV and like having more control of your viewing, setting recordings, watching what you want, when you want, then Sky Q is the better option.

If you have fast & stable broadband and don't mind Sky and other broadcasters/streamers having more control of their content's availability, and would like UHD on multiple TV's (bandwidth permitting) then Stream is the better option.

And it's worth noting that Sky hasn't publically said phasing it out by 2029, that's a bit of conjecture based on satellite end of life dates. In practice they've kind of phased it out already for most new customers because it's not really advertised on the Sky site anymore, you really have to dig for it.

Without good broadband Sky Stream isn't a great option, but the good news is that the country is really getting its act together with fast internet through fibre, satellites and 5G and by the time Sky Q does eventually shut you'll probably have no issue getting Stream!

Ah yes. If you've not got good internet I bet stream would struggle. Do a speed test while holding your phone where the stream box would be. I think they say min 25mbps for 4k and 35 if you have more than 1 box but based on what I'm reading in this forum I'd be wanting at least double that to be sure. What is your actual normal top speed? You could look at new router or Ethernet or something if it's fast enough next to router but not at the potential location of stream box.

Basically sky stream is an app that links all the other free and paid for apps together. Stream adds little itself, except maybe Sky Atlantic.its guide is poor. You get loads of adverts that you can't rid of. Fast forwarding and reversing is hit and miss depending on which stream service you're using. Sometimes you can see where you are, sometimes you can't. But you always get to see all the adverts over and over if you Ff or fr over an ad break. You even get adverts when paused.

I get pixelated videos occasionally, rebooting solves that. I'm on my 3rd remote control, can't control TV volume now (was OK). Sony Bravia TV. If I had a choice now, I'd go back to just using freeview.

I've a part fibre connection running at about 54Mbps (standard speedtest.net) and the Sky Puck (stream) works effortlessly even with simultaneous other video demands (e.g. BBC iPlayer) on my router. My Puck is connected to the router by Ethernet. you don't need a full fibre connection. Like you my area doesn't have full fibre available.

It appears a constant stable connection is better than a faster one that fluctuates. With Sky when I do a speed test the speed sits around the same speed the whole test, whereas when I was with Virgin the speeds would flucuate wildly from as low as 50mbps to 600mbps.
