GB News issues

Why are there always problems with GB news channel.

Never seem to get the problem with Sky news.

Anyone else see this as an issue?

GB News have no money. They probably can't afford to maintain their output feed to a satisfactory quality.

Hi @tgill What specific issues are you experiencing? I tend to mostly watch BBC News but sometimes look at GB if I want a different perspective. Personally have never had any issue with the channel.

Are you definitely on Sky Stream?

There's a known potential issue with this channel on the satellite platforms because (somewhat ironically) it uses a transponder which is more favourable for reception in mainland Europe than the UK, and so is sensitive to even slight dish misalignment and adverse weather conditions.

I'm on sky stream with 4 pucks.

I have Giganet on full fibre, with 500M wifi.

I'm fully aware of GBN using a transponder biased toward Europe.

However given skys dish arrays, I would not expect there to be

any issues with that.

When I have issues with GBN on sky stream, funnily enough

I switch to satellite which is usually no problems.

The cynical amongst us might question if someone somewhere

is trying to manipulate viewers?

We're not aware of any issues with the channel, can you tell us more about the problem that you're experiencing with GB News please?

If you could let us know the following, that'd help:

Is it a problem with the picture?
Is it a problem with the sound?
Is it a problem with the adverts?
When does this happen?
Can you tell us the date/time that you next experience the issue?

Has anyone else witnessed problems with this channel? If you have, if you could provide the answers to the above questions, that'd be appreciated.

Odd, I regularly watch GB News in the mornings from 6am and catch the headlines a good handful of times on the hour quick fire news bulletin during the day.

Not had any issues for some while with watching the channel on my Sky Stream.

Perhaps it's a particular programme you are using issues with.

Some of these news channels mind, Sky News being one, do have difficulty fairly often with remote guest invites and journalists live reporting around the world, probably connecting up on a flaky broadband line or mobile phone connection.

Do find, CNN seem to do the remote quest and world live reports a lot better with rare issues.

I likewise watch GB News quite regularly and have no problem at all. As has been suggested perhaps a bit more detail of the problem may help.

Yes always have problems with GB news- right now, it has gone off and just have a blue screen. Often it is almost like it gets stuck and keeps repeating last sentence!

Not had any problems with GB News of late and watch it most days through the morning and afternoon.

Its working fine for me this morning on my Sky Stream.

Would suggest trying a restart of your Sky Stream box
Go to Settings>Systems Management>Resets & Updates
Select Restart device
Your Sky Stream puck will perform a reboot. It will take a few minutes to complete

Likewise to @lettice we watch GB News on and off most days and never had a problem. Is this the only channel you have a problem with? You could just do an internet speed test There is one on Netflix just check the menu down the side.

I’m having an issue with GB News on Sky Stream. I’ll add a programme to my Playlist and start watching it in the evening, but when I go back to continue it the next day — it’s gone! No ‘Continue Watching’ option like I get with other programmes on my Playlist, it just disappears. Any ideas what might be causing this? Would love to hear from any of you experts out there!

I've been experiencing picture quality issues with GB News on Sky Q for a few weeks now, noisy picture with very juddery motion, almost unwatchable. No problems with other channels.

Yes, I often have problems with GB news on the sky stream puck, far more than any other channel (such as for the last hour between 10-11am on 1st August 2025).

When the screen goes blank and suddenly dissappears I always check the other news channels and they work fine. If you wait long enough eventually GB News returns, then goes blank again a little later and just repeats. I end up going back to old skool and using the aerial (freeview) when this happens as it's so frustrating.

Internet speed is fine & I am technial in this deparment.

I do reboot the puck which sometimes helps with glitches but not all the time.

I have also resorted to turning off the puck at the wall of a night so it has a complete power off as I feel this helps a little with the gremlins.

aaahh I had previously seen your post re: playlist when I left a comment about problems with GBNews but had never had much problem with the playist until now. My playlist has now decided to place episodes that I have already seen (about 7 or 8 episodes ago) to the front of the queue for next watch. You click the latest and think you are about to watch the latest episode only after few minutes to realise you watch it a while back.

I think I will be using the apps direct rather than the playlist from now on.

Far too many glitches for sky stream to ever have been released on the market in my book!

My bad sorry I meant for programs in general I will probably go app direct as in iPlayer hub, my 5, 4 etc.

Though food for thought I think it might be worth contacting sky to add the gb news app but doubt they would wish to promote it.

I have found a slight workaround if you like.

Although sky stream does not have the GB news app preinstalled you can access GB News through the youtube app for live and pre-recorded programs.

It may come in handy when the channel is either being glitchy or you are seeking an earlier program.

@LAZYNEIL that would require GB News to develop an app that works on Sky OS, and i'd have thought that wouldn't necessarily be worth the development or support costs for them.
