I'm catching references to Sky Stream Gen 2 pucks that was originally for Sky Glass but now available for any tv. Is this correct and is it available to purchase replacing my original puck? Thanks.

@Stephen+Mourton There are no Gen 2 pucks, Gen 2 is the Glass TV only.

Where have you seen these references to gen 2 pucks?

I suspect that's actually a somewhat confused reference to the original release of Stream, which was only available alongside a Glass television between October 2021 and October 2022 before being launched as a standalone product.

Also note that Stream pucks haven't been available for purchase from Sky since February 28th 2023 when they switched to a 'free' loan contract. Pucks acquired before that date were sold to their original user.

@GD1 Typically I have tried to find where I read it and now can't. Either I misread it, or it was an icorrect statement made by someone, either way I accept it was wrong. If I find it I will post it back on here.

Ok, ultimately there's not a Gen 2 puck so we can chalk it up to a mistake. For what it's worth, I think I saw someone mention a Gen 2 puck in passing too, erroneously.

In my very humble opinion I don't think there will ever be a gen 2 puck. It's not something with enough value to make that much fuss about. I suspect over time the puck will naturally be manufactured wi th newer / different components and the general public will never realise.....

Agreed @Jporch316. I think it'll likely be like the remote, it's already changed in a number of ways since Glass launched but they don't really make a big deal about it. It would have to be fundamentally different hardware for it to be worthy of calling a Gen 2 imo.

Worth noting there was never a second generation Sky Q Mini box even though adding UHD would have made that update a much more compelling business proposition.

Having more than one Stream puck model would be a largely unnecessary logistics complication unless it's actually required by, for example, the arrival of 8K streaming.

Nor I. There's no reason for Sky/Comcast to invest in the development time etc. There's nothing to suggest any hardware issues with the current Puck.

There was certainly a thread where someone had an issue and said they had a Sky Glass puck Gen 2 ( i think that was the terminology used). I do remember asking them to clarrify if they meant a Sky Glass Gen 2 TV, or just the bog standard Sky Stream puck. You do tend to see a few customers get confused with the terminology between Glass and Stream.

Not sure i ever saw a response to my question on the thread ( and i can't even find the thread at the moment to check 😀 ).
