Control tv while using a sky q remote in sky stream

I'm using a Sky Q remote as a second remote for my Sky Stream puck. The remote controls the puck perfectly but I can't control my LG tv with it. The original Stream remote operates the tv so there should be compatibility but when I attempt to set up the Q remote I go through all 25 attempts but nothing works. Obviously I can only attempt to set it up using the settings in the stream puck, so I'd assume that's the issue but is there any way I can pair this remote with a tv?
