Do I have to pay the setup fee?

I'm looking at "upgrading" from SkyQ to streaming but when I add the puck to my basket it automatically adds a £39.99 setup fee. Can I not have this? It seems rediculous to HAVE to pay £40 for something that will probably take me 15 minutes to setup.

Are these being offered FOC to existing customers or do I have to cancel my subscription and go via, say, EE tk get one free?

I've not seen Pucks being offered free of charge. You could always ask, I suppose.....

@Forestwalker The (39.99) is a standard setup fee,all pucks are loaned to you and must be returned to sky should you cancel your subscription

Thanks Deedee, I've been aSky customer for 30 years so am familiar that all equipment is only on loan. I didn't think I was buying the puck for £40 but at the same time I am more than capable of plugging a power lead in, attaching an HDMI cable and finding my WiFi (and saving £40)

@Forestwalker the setup fee isn't for someone to install it for you, it's more of a delivery/fulfilment charge aka additional profit for Sky... And yes, you have to pay it...

I used to get offered one every time I phoned up when they came out (it used to get annoying) 😂

The one off charge is £39.95

Normally the first puck is free, any subsequent pucks are charged the one off fee.

Give Sky a call rather than trying online to upgrade, you will most probably need to have to call anyway if upgrading from Sky Q.

Typically the first puck is only free when you take Whole Home.
