My existing contract covers the cost.

2. I will need a WiFi contract with someone for best 'countrywide' cover.

3. Any pre-existing Sky TV subscription will be cancelled upon activation of the Stream puck.

Sky Stream relies entirely on a fast and stable broadband connection of 25Mbps minimum speed for HD streaming and 30Mbps for UHD streaming. You need to arrange this separately at additional cost.

Sky Go is completely separate to Sky Stream. Sky Go is merely an app which allows you to stream content from channels which are part of your Sky Stream subscription whilst away from home on a mobile device.

Also - your narrowboat will need to have a fixed address.

You may be better off using NOW TV for access to Sky content.

Hi @Victorious41

Not sure that the t&C's would allow this. To use Sky stream it must be delivered and used at an address. Sky define an address as:

"The residential property where you live in the UK and to which we

agree to provide the TV services".

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-terms-and-conditions

NowTV might be the better option for you.

MikeAlanR

Mike, thanks for your input and I was aware that my contract was to my permanent address. That having been said, and given that SkyGo is included in the package, I, not unreasonably in my view, ASSUMED (...that word, eh!) that with an external omnidirectional aerial (which I have fitted already) together with an appropriate router (which I already have (TP-Link Archer MR500 AC 1200) all I needed was a SIM only card from SKY, together with their permission to insert it into my outer and Bingo! , all should work well. With O2 covering 98/99% of the country, I should AT MOST TIMES, get a decent signal. Obviously I have a Smart TV, 40", so what am I missing? Thanks Mike and if others have a view, or real life experience, I would welcome any guidance.

Thanks Mike and if others have a view, or real life experience, I would welcome any guidance.

If I understand this correctly, you have subscribed to Sky's streaming service and had a Stream puck delivered to your permanent address elsewhere, ie not the narrowboat?

If you are asking if you can take the Stream puck from your home address and use it on the narrowboat then no, that would be against the terms and conditions of your contract.

Sky Go on the other hand, you can use on the narrowboat. You don't need a Sky SIM card in your router to use it though, you can use a data SIM from any mobile provider. If you install the Sky Go app on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop you can stream most of the channels from your Sky Stream package on that device with your existing subscription.

If you want to watch Sky Go on your TV in the narrowboat then you'll need to either connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI or get an Apple TV box and install the Sky Go app on there and connect it to the TV. You'll also need to add the Whole Home subscription to your Sky Stream package for Sky Go to work on an Apple TV box.
