New Menu navigation

One thing which really disappoints is when a company perform an upgrade with no option to keep familiar existing options. In this case its the move from Sky + to Stream and all of a sudden a very simple thing like the navigtion menu and all its options has completely changed. This has caused hours of frustration. Yes to some the new system might be better and more dynamic v the old clunky version. However by simply offering a (software) choice of keeping the old familiar menu system no one will be (removed).

@1twx Sky+HD is decades old where as Stream was launched recently, both systems are inherently different so would the interface of Stream as it supoorts apps incorporated into the system where Sky+ didn't support any and is an old product.

But the point is, an option which costs relatively nothing, is to provide the existing navigation menu for anyone who wishes to choose it. The functionality behind it remains the same : Planner, record, catch up and TV guide could stay the same.

As already advised Sky+ is an old system, it's time to move forwards, things change.

The functionality is not the same.

It would cost a lot to re-build and then maintain different interfaces for all historic versions of Sky. It's just not feasible. It's the same reason you can't make the new iPhones look like the iPhone 3G or Windows 11 look like Windows 3.1.

Absolutely. And there's the support implications for multiple variations of the interface. It's not going to happen.

The system already existed. Its just a menu that has the same look and feel as the old system they had for 20+ years. By giving an option the cutomer can choose their preferred option. The functions to record, playback, catchup and tv guide still are available just shown differently. By offering another option you're taking nothing away from the new navigation. Why not offer the choice? The only objection I've seen is cost which really isn't. The system wasn't broken just didn't look snazzy.

How do you know cost isn't a factor? there is a reason Sky no longer support Sky+ boxes, why on earth would they then want to support another legacy interface.

Face facts, Sky won't give the option to go back 20 years, you have a new system.

I'm not talking about Sky +. It's just about offering those customers the same menu / navigation on the newer systems when they upgrade that they are already used to. Its offering the customer greater choice. It doesn't affect anyone who wants to use the new navigation menu.

Particularly as Stream isn't a Sky platform: it's a Comcast product in use on two continents where Sky never operated.
