Favourites restricted to 49 channels?

It looks like my Stream is now restricted to 49 channels, was 99. Is that correct and if so, Why? I see that the help pages still refer to 99 channels.

Every change they make is to the worse. Now I have to search through every single channel, including all the ones I don't get, to see what's on.

Do unilateral changes to services give me the right to cancel? I need to go back to Virgin.

That is correct, Sky have now reduced the number of favourite channels. @PortlandBill

Yes. I want to be able to see what's on, on the channels I have access to. Now I have to scroll through hundreds and if I see something I want to watch I select it only to be told I'm not subscribed to that channel.

I'm fortunate that I have tried virgin and sky and, for my needs, virgin is so much better. They just charge too much. So I have to choose whether to pay a lot for a good service, or a little less for a poor one.

I've said before about the poor playlist system - it's just a dodgy link to apps. Most times, when watching a series, it doesn't even remember which episode is next, just starts S1 E1 every time.

And don't get me started about the guide!

Other than Sports and Movies, what channels are not included in the standard subscription pack?

@PortlandBill the switch to 49 channels from 99 is part of a rejig of how the favourites section works in the latest firmware update which isnt complete rolled out so that is why it hasnt been fully announced. In practice I suspect very few people ever used 49 let alone more than that so unfortunately if you are in that minority you will lose out.

The method of setting up favourites is improved as you no longer have to scroll through liiterally hundreds of channels in a list instead the channels are arranged in rows by genre and have the logis The system will even automatically pick the favourites if you want it to. You can now set up the favourites from the TV guide rather than having to use the settings menu.

Same, restricted to 49. It is ridiculous to be honest. I used the favourites to list all the channels I use in my own order.

Not sure why they had to reduce the number - pointless and annoying update

It's not so much just the subscription channels, it's all the ones I have to scroll through that I never watch - the children's channels, the music channels, the foreign news channels + as you've said, the sports and movie channels.

99 channels was just about OK, a few more or less not so important. But half? And what makes them think they can change anything about a paid for contract without redress?

I totally agree - I never even went through the normal channel list as everything in HD/UHD fit into the favourites with 99 slots.

Now the GF can't find the channels I had to remove and doesn't understand why she has to use separate channel lists or why they reduced the number of slots. I obviously have no answer for that. Crazy

It was a perfect list for me.

Absolutely ridiculous.

It being their product, mostly. If you can point to 99 favourites being specified within the contract* that might help, but as is typical the document contains a whole raft of legitimate circumstances for change, including, essentially, change itself.

'Redress' is early exit without penalty if you can demonstrate material disadvantage resulting from the alteration of a contract clause (which is potentially somewhat complicated in the case of Sky Glass, but should be relatively simple with Stream)

This change is really awful. I'm having an issuethat nobody has mentioned. I had Eurosport 1 saved as a favourite. I now find out Eurosport has gone, but it's still on my favourites but I can't delete it and add something else because it has gone as a channel. It's madness!! There are so many problems with Stream I think I'll just cancel.

Trying rebooting via the settings menu and see if it allows you to remove Eurosport as a favourite then.

If that doesn't work then I'm perhaps a work around may be to change the option in the favourites to allow for them to be automatically updated based on your viewing habits, this should in theory remove Eurosport as the algorithm would eventually detect it as a channel you no longer actively and regularly watch.

i have no idea how to do any of that. I don't see any way of doing it. The whole thing is a mess. It was much better before.
