Sky puck pause, rewind and jumping back issues

My sky puck is a nightmare when trying to pause, rewind or fast forward what I'm watching. More often than not it jumps back in time 20+ minutes forcing us to watch adverts over again (maybe it's deliberate)

Have tried resetting a number of times but the same issue occurs.
Is there any way to watch sky channels through a smart TV as the puck just feels cheap and poor quality.
