Thanks for the reply.

Ironically I've found that the Ethernet is much more reliable than WiFi 6 with a 350 connection. I'm referencing Sky Sports UHD though.

Hello

I'm on Virgin media fibre with a 350 meg connection.

I have 4 Ethernet ports on Hub 5x which are for:

1. The door chime for the Sky video doorbell. (ompulsory ethernet)

2. The Hive hub (heating) (compulsory ethernet).

3. The Hisense smart TV. (Optional ethernet or WiFi) Seems more stable on ethernet.

4. The Sky stream puck. (Optional ethernet or WiFi) again seems more stable on ethernet.

Now one of these ports is 10 times faster than the rest.

I'd like to ask the technically gifted

Which one should get thf coveted speed increase? Sky? Used thf most. Hardly ever use the TV smart features but it boots much slower on WiFi.

Any advice gratefully received!

Chris

Hello and thank you for the reply.

I tried the 10GB (fast) port with my Hisense Smart TV but it's only getting the 100mb it would get from any of the other ports.

This doesn't surprise me as I'm aware many TV's and streaming devices come with an Ethernet that can't go faster than 100mb.

So unless someone can look at my set-up and advise otherwise as to what device gets the fast port? I am aware my fibre broadband is capped at 350mb so I'm not expecting faster than that. It's more the reliability than anything really.

Thankyou

Someone on the Virgin forum replied with that the fast port isn't available with my subscription so I guess that answers that question then.

But I still can't get my head around the TV and puck reporting way higher WiFi speeds on internet.

That's a design choice by Sky. A Glass television or Stream puck has no use for more than about 30Mbs so a gigabit ethernet port is entirely unnecessary, but fitting WiFi 6 for its benefits other than speed makes sense.
