Change to Netflix plan.

I've received an email today from Netflix:

"Previous plan Basic

New plan Standard with adverts

Payment Sky"

I believe the normal charge for the new plan is £3 a month cheaper. Hopefully Sky will be reducing their charge. Note that Netflix imply that Sky are charging for the "free" service.

As @TimmyBGood as pointed out, Netflix isn't "free" on Sky. Its part of the base package on Sky Stream/Glass so its included in the price and you cannot remove it.

I know it's not free. That's why I put it in quotation marks.

By normal price I meant the cost from Netflix. £7.99 for basic and £ 4.99 for standard with adverts.
The basic plan is being phased out.

Is it wrong to ask for price reduction for reduced sevice?

It's Netflix that made the change to their tier pricing structure, not Sky.

Arguably you're not getting a reduced service. The old 'basic' tier was in 720P resolution. The new 'standard' tier is 1080P.

The introduction of adverts is a Netflix decision. They need to make money by selling advertising. If you don't want to see that advertising then you need to pay more.

You can ask for a price reduction from Sky, but you're highly unlikely to get one.

Netflix considers it to be an improvement in service: hence 'Basic' to 'Standard'

Sky doesn't have any option but to move subscribers to the new tier.

Do you know what they pay? I suppose they pay the wholesale price discounted for volume and that must now be a lower amount.
