For instance my dad likes to watch westerns so i go through the tv guide. They are in two parts because there is an advert in the middle so add it to the playlist expecting it to add the second part. When he goes to watch it only the first part is there

Correct. That's down to the way the channel broadcaster is broadcasting the movie as 2 parts, whereas the system requires a film to be broadcast as one show and not like a TV show of 2 episodes in order for a recording to work. They do this to get around OFCOM regulations so they can put in more ad breaks.

Yes, the Great set of film channels does this.
I playlist a lot of westerns from that channel.

I have reported to Sky to pass onto Great TV to see if they can both find a resolution.

You can do the same to by sending an email to the Sky Viewer relations team to report it;

ViewerR@sky.uk

There is a Great Tv app, on Smart TVs and phone/ tablet app Stores that can be cast to your TV, the same movies after airing on the channels are there for a time.

You can still add to your playlist and use them there as a bookmark for finding in the app.

It is a shame this does not work correctly with Sky Stream cloud recording as it works for the The Five set of channels (5, 5usa, 5 action), but they have a catch-up app within Stream that picks up the full film from the Playlist rail for the programme.

Have noticed in the last week that the Great TV set of channels are now cloud recording the full films in a single recording, even when they have the split promotional advert half way through.

Cloud recorded a number of westerns and other classic films over the weekend and end of last week and all played out as the full film.

Also noticed that also across the 5 set of channels, like 5 action also with the mid film promotional ad are all working now correctly, some were not before.

After my reporting to the VR team and passed on, it was mentioned in a reply I recieved to contact VR with any other future such instances.

So what happened there?

Possibly because Bird On A Wire is a 'premium' title and available for purchase and rental via Sky Store and other movie streaming services. Sky would rather you spend £3.49 to rent it or £5.99 to buy it than let you have access to a cloud recording for free.

Legend must have the broadcast rights to the film, but nothing else, so if you didn't watch it live, or start watching it during the broadcast timeslot, you're out of luck and need to pay for it.

If the cloud recording is not going to be available after the linear live broadcast has aired, it should not allow you to 'playlist' cloud record it, but expect in this case it may have set that name incorrectly as another programme was available with the same name.
