Assume you are trying the turn the Sky Stream puck and TV off ( into standby) together?

You need to keep the Sky Stream remote power button pressed for at least three seconds for the Sky Stream puck and your TV to go into standby.

Just a quick press, will just put the SKy Stream puck into standby, not your TV.

I can switch my tv off but then it cones straight back in again with a Check Device Power message. There are then 3 option, power on, connection guide and source but unfortunately the remote won't let me choose any of them.

@JDS365 Welcome to the forum. The screen you are seeing with the Check device power etc is what you will get when you have turned off the puck but not your TV. I get this if I don't hold the power button for long enough to turn everything of at once.
