No. It operates via the internet. No dish is required.

@Bessy86 Sky Stream content is delivered via the internet. Sky recommend a connection of around 25mbps for HD and 30mbps for UHD with an additional 5mbps per additional pick if you have MultiRoom.

However, for a smooth experience you'll need around double this from my experience. We used to have 100mbps (now 500mbps) and it/is working brilliantly. We love Sky Stream ❤️

@Bessy86 Like @Nigelb1972 I love the streaming platform and also like him I have fast AND stable WiFi. If your speeds are borderline you will most probably encounter issues.

I purchased Stream when the recommended speed was 10 Mbps for HD.

My connection is 31 Mbps on FTTC.

Stream works fine in HD, not once in over a year has it buffered, even when streaming other TV via Sky Go on two separate laptops.

From various tests I have ascertained that it actually uses around 7-8 Mbps.

However it does need a stable connection, I use ethernet.

What is does need is that available bandwidth, if you have other devices such as CCTV pinching bandwidth then Stream may suffer.

I believe Sky have upped their recommended speeds purely to account for homes that are "busy" with other devices.

This week I have been monitoring the bandwidth within my home setup, specifically how much the Stream pucks use.
I currently have one puck connected on wifi, another on ethernet.
On my Sky broadband Ultrafast + (500Mbps), I get the following average when running a speed test from a desktop via ethernet to a router;
Latency 4-5ms, 523-525Mbps download, 72-74 Mbps upload.

HD = Watching any live TV, On demand or cloud recordings - 6-7 Mbps per puck.
UHD = Watching any live TV, On demand or cloud recordings - 11-12Mbps per puck.

So it seems with Sky recommended, is not far off the mark in the Sky help page link below;
Recommended minimum broadband speed of 25Mbps. Or 30Mbps if you add an extra Sky Stream puck or to watch in UHD.
