Understanding Sky Stream

I am moving to a new house considering having Sky installed but don't understand Stream.

I know stream is TV but is it also your broadband and if so what speed is it or do you have to pay extra on top of Stream subscription for WiFi?

Where can I get the best deals to join Sky as a new customer?

Sky Stream is the TV service delivered via broadband to a little box called a Stream puck.

Broadband is a separate charge and Sky Stream doesn't have to be used with broadband from Sky - you can use any other provider as long as it's fast and stable.

The best deals to join Sky as a customer I find are via some of the cashback sites. If you look at Topcashback for example you can get over £100 cashback for signing up to Sky Stream and Sky Broadband. The 18 month TV service contracts are also cheaper - starting at £19pm instead of £26pm.

Thanks for that info I live on my own in one bedroom flat all I have on the internet is my fire stick, tv & mobile what is a good speed to get the flat is very small

@BobClarke1953 so the minimum required speed for Sky Stream is 30 Mbps, so anything above that and you shouldn't have any issues.

Its also a good idea to check which channels are available by Sky Stream, as for various reasons its not the same list that is available via Satellite. Some channels are only available via Satelliete and the odd few are only available via the Sky Streaming platform: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/tv-channel-list-sky-glass.

Thanks I am going to go for Broadband only deal so what speed is needed for very small 1 bedroom flat and connections for just smart tv, fire stick and mobile phone

If you live alone and have few streaming devices then please don't let a salesperson talk you into signing up for an expensive broadband service with a speed way beyond what you may actually use or need.

A Sky Ultrafast 145Mbps broadband service will probably be the absolute most you'd ever need. You'd only need more speed if you had several other people in your flat using the WiFi all at the same time for watching 4K video.

Not to muddy the waters but you can get a better deal from sky normally if you take out their stream tv and broadband together

stream is live tv and on demand over the internet .... there is no recording function but you are able to bookmark most tv shows etc for playback at a later date ...

if you are able check out some YouTube videos (skys channel has a few ) to see how it works etc

@Mickeymouse123 if you havecthe new white Sky hub and your smart TV is from Samsung go into the Hub's settings in the My Sky app and lower the wifi security setting from the defaukt WPS3-T to WPA2
