I don't disagree it's a lot @lew9360 but I'm virtually certain you won't see it cheaper anywhere as the price is set by the distributor rather than the broadcaster

I know that there is a 20% discount on a lot of rentals but I don't think it applies to premier rentals. I'm not at home to check

Can somebody please answer why new rentals on sky store are £15.99?? This is absolutely disgusting to try & extort that kinda money off people at this time when money worries are rife due to this virus & having to self isolate.

This is because these are films that under any normal circumstances would be in the cinema but Universal have made them available to rent and as such the £15.99 price is down to them as you will find the very same films available for the same price at the likes of Amazon, Virgin and TalkTalk.

If you want to rent them then wait until the £15.99 price period is over and they drop to the usual price for a rental.

I absolutely agree! I was horrified when I saw some of the latest charges too. Please see my post for 3/4/2020 - Cookie1959 which was prompted by the extortionate charges on Sky Store. However, my post on 3rd April is actually aimed at original cheaper fees.

Shocking prices I thought 15.99 was to buy luckily I saw an expiration on it and watched it in time I will never buy anything in the sky store again sky has gone down hill they come out twice now to sort my multi room still doesn't work and they still take the money I asked for a partial refund for the services I'm not getting and have been ignored twice I have been with sky over 10 years this will be my last year sick of calling them up the first person you speak to always hangs up so you're on the phone for hours every time when you pay over £100 a month for a service you should be treated better

Hi @Sriches

Just to give you some context, the £15.99 rentals are not regular rentals. These are (on Sky at least) Premiere rentals. These are generally movies which have only recently been released at the cinema (or haven't even been to cinema)

These premiere rentals won't be available to buy anywhere just yet.

This is the distributors way of trying to make back some of the money they have spent on the production.

In all the cases I've seen, the £15.99 rental is standard between Amazon, Rakuten, Apple etc as well as Sky.

The thinking is along the lines of -" well if you saw this at the cinema you'd be paying £25 for 2 tickets."

Not particularly trying to defend anything - just offering some context.

The £15.99 is set by the studios which is why it will be the same price elsewhere at places like Amazon where they can also be rented. You don't have to pay this price and wait until the film appears on the normal rental window which will probably be a few months down the line.

Well I must say I have just seen the sky sore has the batman to rent .but I think when you pay for sky cinema there should be some kind of discount to this rather high price had it been around the £12 pound mark I may well of thought it worth the higher charge for a rental but I'm afraid at 16 pounds it's more than a treat its a full on day out for me .I can well live without this in my life or added to my bill .so I'm just going to jog on .

Premier rentals like the latest Batman film will be higher for a period of time before they drop down in price via the normal rental window. I think you will find the price is the same no matter who you pay to watch the film because as @mike+simmonds has said the price isn't set by Sky but by the distributor.
