Keeping Sky mobile service active while porting number

Hi,

I have an existing Sky Mobile Pay Monthly service.

Can I port my current Sky number to O2 (or other network) while keeping the Sky Mobile service itself active with a new number?

Purchase a new dataplan first. Activate it (it will have a new number) then port the existing number out.

Assuming your number is not subject to a minimum term.

I don't quite understand.

Please could you explain in steps.

Currently I have a pay monthly Sky sim and want to port the number to say O2, but doing this would cancel my Sky pay

monthly, which I do not want to do.

So what can I do?

You said you wanted to also order a new sim with a new number, so you need to do this first and activate it so you still have on sim on your account then you can move this other one to O2.

Apologies, I am not making myself clear.

I have an existing Sky Mobile Pay Monthly service.

I want to port my current Sky number to O2, but I do NOT want my Sky Mobile service or contract cancelled.

I then want to port a different mobile number from another UK network onto that same existing Sky Mobile service.

Is this possible? If so how?

1) Purchase and activate an additional Sky dataplan (with new number) - you'll then have 2 SIMs on your account

2) Port out the number you want to move to O2 - you'll then have 1 SIM on your account (with the new number)

3) Port in the number to Sky

You have made yourself clear which is why in my reply to you I did say to order a new sim first, then port the number on the other one to O2 then you still have an active sim on your account.

Hi @just-jester you cannot keep the current plan if that's what you are trying to do. As soon as you port your number to O2 then that cancels the current plan. If you want to keep your Sky mobile account open then do as advised, order a new sim from Sky before porting your number to O2. That will be a different plan with a different number but would keep the sky account open.

PORT Sky sim X number out - now only have Sky sim Y

To move the number to a different network you need to get the pac code so you need to send the text as per this to get it:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/switching-mobile-providers-leaving-sky-mobile

You then give that pac code to whatever network you want to move the number to.

The issue which no person seems to know the answer to is:

You can't as you have already ported the number out to O2 or someone else.

If you port the number from x to O2 then that plan is lost, you cannot keep it @just-jester . As soon as that number is ported then that plan on sim x is closed.
