I got my daughter a sky mobile phone. She's had it 6 months and periodically gets calls or messages from random numbers (she's under instructions to not respond, I then block). Sky says it does recycle old numbers, but leaves 6 months in between use. The tone of some texts tho, are definitely not "we haven't spoken for a year". Could there be digital crossed wires?

For your information there are very few (if any) new numbers. I joined Sky Mobile in 2018 and on giving my new number to friends and family my brother-in-law spookily already had my number on his contacts as someone he frequently contacted at the local council.

All numbers are recycled although I can't confirm the 6 months time frame.

Have you looked at call blocking options on the phone itself as some have an option to block calls/messages from unknown numbers so those that are not in the contact list.

There is one, but we'd have to put all the known contacts in again after switching it on (there may be other methods admittedly). It's more that I was interested to see if other people had had the same issue.

I could well imagine we've run out of new ones by now. And it was Sky themselves who say on the site that they wait 6 months.
