Emergency calls only message

I cannot make or receive calls on my phone. A message at the top of my mobile phone says "Emergency Calls only". I phoned Sky with this problem last week and was told it is a local area problem, however my wife can use her phone without a problem. My daughter gave me this phone several weeks ago when she bought a new one and it has worked fine until last wednesday evening. I can use "Whatsapp" and send emails without any problem but not the phone. The phone is a Samsung Galaxy A71 4g. My daughter seems to think that it needs a new sim card?

Bear in mind that I am a old age pensioner with little or no knowedge of technology, so this represents a crisis for me and my wife.
