You get a pac code from Sky and move the number to a PAYG network, then get a pac code from them to give it to Sky to move it to your 10GB sim.

@kb061288 wrote:

Is there a way of cancelling the 10GB contract so that I can just continue with the 2GB one?

If you did manage to activate the 10GB one then you will need to call Sky on 150 to ask them to cancel it for you. If you didn't activate it then it will be cancelled automatically so you should not be charged for it.

SIM contract confusion

I recently upgraded from an iPhone 14 to an iPhone 17. I also chose a 10GB SIM contract as there was a discounted deal on. With my iPhone 14, I had a 2GB SIM. I've recently taken delivery of my new iPhone 17 and a new SIM card.

I've had an email to say that my 2GB SIM contract has come to an end. When I login to my sky mobile app, it says I have two SIMS - the 2GB one and the option to activate the 10GB one. When I chose to activate the 10GB one, it asks me for a sky code (which I have with the new SIM they sent me) but won't let me proceed unless I also input a PAC code? I don't know why I need to do this because I'm not switching from another provider.

Please help me understand which SIM card I need in my new phone, how to cancel my old 2GB SIM contract and how to activate my 10GB one!

Thank you

Any new dataplan will have a new phone number.

If you're ok with a new phone number then it's easy. Simply activate the new dataplan and call Sky to cancel the old one,

Otherwise, it's not easy as you cannot use a PAC within a network. (You'd have to transfer your number out and back in again)

That sounds confusing. How do I transfer the number out and then back again? Is there a way of cancelling the 10GB contract so that I can just continue with the 2GB one?

You can cancel any new SIM you've activated within the cooling off period.

The usual advice is to simply move the existing SIM from old to new phone.

Transferring a number requires a PAC code to move it out of the network (to a .pay as you go) and then a PAC code to transfer it back.

30 days I believe, so you might get the odd email inviting you to activate it so just ignore and don't then it will be cancelled.
