Hi there, I received an email last night saying I had breached skys fair use policy of over 550gb of data used in one billing period. I have tried to find help about this online but nothing has helped so far. I am concerned as I am unable to get WiFi in my property. So therefore I use my hotspot for everything. I pay for unlimited data now that to me means I get to use an unlimited amount of data?

I am wondering how may homes I can go over this usage? Without getting charged? Has anyone had any experience with this. Online it says don't go over it more than 3 times in a 12 month billing periods. Is that the case?

The unlimited plan does have a fair use restriction, it is covered in the small print so despite the name you don't actually get to use as much data as you want.

They are Sky's published terms.

If you require totally uncapped usage then there are a handful of providers offering it (still with some caveats, particularly around commercial use).

Unfortunately it seems to be a word which the Advertising Standards Agency is happy to let commercial providers of various services caveat* in their small print. Your only realistic challenge to this would be you weren't sufficiently made aware.

I just don't want to get a massive charge or get cut off as it's the first time this has happened.

No, you shouldn't as it says those sanctions are for exceeding 3 times in 12 months.

It looks like you need to get the Wifi issue fixed via your broadband provider or is that Sky ?
