Does data roaming work in Egypt

My partner is on holiday in Egypt and I was told that Egypt is classed as "rest of the world " so there would be charges incurred calling or texting from there . Is this true?

It is a Rest Of The World destination and costs will be extremely high as per this link

The cheapest solution is to get a local SIM card when you arrive or only use free Wi-Fi.

You need to make sure roaming / data are switched off before leaving the UK and switch on flight mode. Once free WiFi is available just turn on WiFi whilst still in flight mode.

Thanks for the advice people. I'll reduce her spend cap so I don't get rinsed and hope she gets WiFi on the 7 day cruise on the Nile.on plus side if she doesn't, I'll get a quiet week while she's there 🤔🤔🤔

Hi @Carlosthejackal my advice, make sure roaming and mobile data are turned off in the phone settings and flight mode is activated BEFORE leaving the UK. If they wait until they are in the air or when they arrive they run the risk of incurring charges very quickly and reaching/breaching spend caps. Then turn WiFi on when free WiFi available. There have been many on here who have fallen foul of this.
