Check your data usage page

Hi I am new to sky mobile and i would like to understand the Check your data usage page.

Currently i have the following and it doesn't really make sense, to me.

I don't understand why the breakdown doesn't add up to the total, i.e 17.98MB + 1.96MB doesn't equal 118MB

Also what is the Outside Plan - Sky Watch data and since it is outside of my plan does that mean i am going to get charged for it?

I don't understand why anything is outside my plan, i haven't been out of the country and either been connected to sky broadband or sky network. I have watch discovery and been in sky go and sky store and mysky apps. This is whilst i have been connected to wi-fi, therefore don't understand why this should show up at all.

Check your data usage page states the following

Current Period = 118MB

17 Nov - 12 Dec Inside plan

Breakdown and other usage

Inside plan - UK Data = 17.98MB

Outside Plan - Sky Watch data = 1.96MB

Also should the inside and outside of plan be deducted from my monthly data usage plan? Or the amount next to the current period, which as it stands doesn't correlated the the breakdown

Sorry should have stated this page refers to MySky, think i posted in the wrong section.

From Manage SIM > Manage Settings > Check data usage

Have you been using any Sky apps on your phone so like Sky Go, Sky Sports app etc ?

Then it could be those as whilist they are pretty much free of a data charge Sky does say that you will be charged a small amount for some pre roll adverts when you start to use each app:

When i am on these apps i am connected to my sky wi-fi.

Even if i wasn't, why would i get charge?

Its the same as watching an advert in ITV player, i could understand it coming out of my data plan but don't understand getting charge £.

It would have been helpful to know that earlier, so for this I would suggest you call Sky to see if they can shed some light on it.

Hi @Steven1234 at a guess because you are looking at the current period your data counter hasn't caught up yet. On my previous months mine look ok. Can't check current period as mine just started so can't access it.

I just checked the misses account and her

Total usage is = 150.2MB

Inside usage is = 76.63MB

Outside usage sky watch is = 17.26MB

Her usage yesterday is 73.57MB

Therefore it looks like on hers the total usage is updated quicker than the breakdown.

If i add together the Inside usage and her usage yesterday i get the 150.2MB, which is the same as the total usage.

I would agree for her it seems to be due to timing. Not the same logic for me yet, but going to monitor over the next few days.

Hi @Steven1234 no, viewing sky using sky apps, doesn't cost anything extra, no extra charges.
