Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network

Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network. How do I get my phone to connect? I have turned it off and on, I have disabled network and turned it off and on. I have removed and cleaned the (not dirty) sim card. Nothing is working and the chat bot is singularly useless.

Haven't been out of the house. Phone worked perfectly yesterday. All I did was roll some data to my husband's phone and mine stopped working. This has happened before but I can't remember what I did to fix it. I think it's Sky's way of getting back at me because I am out of contract and have blocked their cold call number.

Unhelpfully none of the self help answers point to a phone number where you can discover that your sim is no longer functional. After a full day of searching for answers, I finally found a phone number for a help desk in India. I had the most charming lady who said she would not leave until the problem was solved. True to her word, together we went through the same steps that I had tried over a dozen times over the course of the day, to no avail. She then sanctioned an eSim and guess what? The phone started working again. Thank you Monica, you were wonderful.

But, I must mention the perversity of the eSim installation. I had to make the call from a pay as you go phone as my phone was obviously dead, and as it was on a different network, not Sky, I was unable to go through security with Sky to get the codes needed to install the eSim. Luckily, I had another family member on the Sky network whom I was able to disturb to get the needed codes. So Sky, if you're watching, what if you don't have that option? How many important calls would I have missed waiting for a new physical sim to arrive? Perhaps time to raise your game? I have nearly 25 years as a Sky customer, loyalty can wane over time if services become problematic.

I'm fairly confident Sky have way bigger things to think about then "getting back" at customers for being out of contract.

I could tell you something that they (one of their staff) did a couple of years back, but I'm not starting an argument with anyone here. The person was dealt with.
