How long can I leave e sim before I activate it

Hi can anybody tell me if I have a time limit for activating my new e sim. I have just purchased the iPhone 17 for my son for Xmas and do not want to activate e sim until then. Will this be ok to do as I do not want to use or open the phone before he gets it.

Hi @Richt3468 sims usually have to be activated eithin 30 days. I assume esims will be the same as if you purchased it with a deal then deals may change and expire.

Here is the sky guidance @Richt3468, in theory you could activate it in another phone then transfer to the phone at a later date. Not something I would personally do having seen many issues reported here with esim activation/transfer.
