After getting a new mobile phone and supposed new phone number, I now believe that phone number belonged to someone else previously. I have been getting debt collection messages addressed to the same name over the last 3 months., also appointments for beauty treatments and medical.

How do I resolve this issue? Is it possible to get a brand new phone number?

All you can do is to call Sky on 150 and explain this to them to see if they will cancel this one and then send you another one. Even with another sim it could happen again.
