Sky don't provide spare sims, it's either a replacement or a new one with a new number.

They don't tend to 'fail'.

But perhaps an eSIM might be appropriate?

You can get a replacement sim but along with a normal sim will be cancelled if not activated within 30 days so as above you can't get a spare one to keep just in case of a failure.
