Make sure you don't order/activate a new sim with the new phone as that will have a new number.

I wish to get a new iPhone which uses eSIM. I want to keep my existing number and plan. Can I just switch my plan and number to the eSIM, when I have the new phone? So rather than putting my physical SIM into the new phone it all ports to the eSIM?
