Apple watch cellular with Sky contract?

Hi,

I already have a mobile contract with sky and I'd like to buy an apple watch cellular through sky so I don't need my phone when I go running. However, I have seen that Sky esim isn't compatible with Apple Watch cellular?

Is that still the case?

I phoned sky the other day and they just said the watches I can buy on their app site are cellular but didn't mention about compatibility issues. I don't want to make an expensive mistake but seems strange if they are selling the watches but they won't work with a sky esim?

Sky customer service would have happily sold me the watch without telling me that was the case.
