I get 10mbs before the £2 , 24 hour charge kicks in, can anyone give me some averages of what i might be able to use within that 10mbs, ie a number of texts etc. much appreciated as i cant see how i can judge my use of 19mbs.

Realistically that will be very difficult to prevent breaching the 10Mb trigger as modern smartphones 'chatter' - such as checking emails and other routine matters. (All done in the background for which you will be unaware - it is technically possible to disable all of this but time consuming per app/system)

Texts (SMS) do not use data at all and will trigger the charge. Texts send over data (iMessage/WhatsApp) are relatively small - see here: https://www.airalo.com/blog/how-much-data-does-whatsapp-use
