return for exchange - macbook

so I got a macbook from Sky Mobile which arrived and I discovered a manufacturing issue that presents as an area of not space black on the screen rim - so I asked sky if I could return it for exchange - inside 31 days - they said yes you can return it for a refund, I don't want a refund I want it exchanged but apparently that's not possible....

All I can do is return for refund, and get another agreeement for a new macbook which I don't want to do - it's another hit on my credit file and unnecessary because I already have a macbook I just want faulty one exchanged...

They've told me if I want an exchange then I'll have to go the Apple Store (who won't exchange it for a new one, only a factory refurb at best via the Genius Bar)

This doesn't feel right or fair, when the solution is so simple and they can do it with phones, but not a macbook.....

I'm not sure they do...

Anyway, your consumer right is to return for a refund within the first 30 days (unsatisfactory quality, unfit for purpose or not as described). I don't think you can make them exchange.
