Does the SIM get deactivated if you don't use it straight away?

If you haven't activated it it will drop off after about 31 days.

Ok thanks. I now need to actually activate this and no way of getting through to sky!

If it has been more than 31 days then it will be cancelled so you will not be charged fot it so if you want a sim then you will need to another one so you will need to select a plan for it from here:
