Stop mobile charges while abroad

Hi, does anyone know how to stop my daughter's mobile account getting charged while away in a remote area in South America. She still needs to be able to be connected to the Local Wi-Fi. Thank you in advance.

Hi @JEER1791 I always do this and don't incur charges. BEFORE leaving the UK turn off mobile data, turn off roaming and turn on flight mode. It's to late if you wait till you land. Then when free WiFi is available just turn on WiFi (still in flight mode).

Thsnk you for your reply, I actually tried this while we were at home. But couldn't get any messages via WhatsApp. Any suggestions?

If you have WiFi turned on then WhatsApp should still come through @JEER1791
