I've just received a call stating they were from sky and that they will be sending me a new SIM card which has better connected and data availability. Has anyone else received this and is it legit?

The call would not have been from Sky so did you give them any personal details like access to your Sky account or your address ?

Yes. No, it's a scam where they will now order expensive mobile devices on your account if you have give them access.

I didn't give them anything, just hung up the phone. Just wanted to check that it was legit, thank you for your help!
