How can I set up 2 factor authentication to prevent someone from getting a copy (replacement) of my sim card by pretending to be me. Let's face it, our birthdate etc is out there

I don't think you can setup anything like this as there are security questions that you as the account holder would have to pass before being able to talk to Sky and should the wrong answers being given Sky wouldn't allow the call to continue.

The point being on BBC Morning Live today, it's clear that the 'security questions' are invariably your birthday date etc which is being data mined.

Now I have an app that provides a unique and regular changing number before I can access my PayPal account .

Replacement SIMs would be sent to your home address. (Particularly hard to intercept)

Sky do not currently offer 2FA but I'd recommend ensuring you use unique passwords for every website and if you're particularly paranoid change it frequently.

Sky uses a 'telephone password' if you call them instead of common personal data. (They will use personal data as a last resort)
