Sky mobile SIM as a hotspot

I have a new SKY SIM and I want to use this in a 4G router device as a WiFI hotspot. The SIM is activated and works in a mobile but I can't get a connection on the hotspot. Any ideas?

I tried copying in the ones from a mobile on sky but still no luck. Will double check.

Assuming the unit is not network locked there's no reason why it shouldn't work.

Same issue but sky mobile said they can't be used in routers. and suggested a dongle instead? no clarification on how they define the difference.

Same issue here. When I ordered the SIM card I specifically asked about using it in a router and I was told it would work.
Surprise surprise it doesn't work and they now tell me that their SIM cards will NOT work in routers. A SIM card with Eir does work in the router.

I then had to speak to six!!!! different teams in order to cancel under my 14 day cooling off period.
I like the SIM card in the phone but honestly what a **bleep** show for something so simple as a router.
I'm not impressed.
