You just need to move that sim from that phone to this new one so you wouldn't;t need to order a new one.

Just wondering. I've just bought a New IPhone 16 and I currently have an iPhone 13. I've already got a current contract paid off on it but I'm not actually sure if my new phone comes with a sim automatically or if I just transfer my old one over. I didn't upgrade I just bought a new one and had paid the old one off. Just a bit worried I'm not sure if to cancel my old sim or wait

If you want to keep your phone number then the easiest option is to move your current SIM from old to new phone...

Just so I know

Of course, but you wouldn't need a new SIM then... (Either don't activate it or cancel within the cooling off period if you have)

Any new SIM will have a new phone number. You cannot transfer numbers within a network.

You cannot cancel a SIM if you've had it less than 12 months (Cooling off aside).

There is a protracted method of moving numbers but requires porting the number out of the network and back in again.
