Upgrading phone but changing sim provider

I want to upgrade a device with about 6 months left on the contract (swap after 24 months on a 36 month contract), but I also need to change to another service provider as the Sky service is awful around where we live. If I upgrade the phone online, will it trigger a renewal of the sim only contract associated with that phone (the sim is currently out of contract)? Would it be better to change the sim first?

Hi @Matilda15 the sim is separate so as long as you dont add another sim or specifically recontract with sky then you wont trigger a renewal of the old sim.
