Change of data plan and retaining data saved

I understood I could keep my save data if changing plans but retaining the account. So I have changed my plan but got this line on the confirmation email:

'Any extra data linked to the mobile plan will not be retained in line with the new data mix.'

The contract was sold to me on the basis I owuld be able to change my plan down if I accummulated too much data.I understand saved data is lost after 12 months but I want to make sure my piggy bank will be retained in line with the way the contract was sold to me.

Data saved in your piggybank should remain there as long as the account is still active.

You can change your mix every month but if you have a 'deal' (Such as double data) then that is lost when changing the mix.

However, the piggybank is unaffected.
