Hi everyone

anyone having problems today, 25/5 watching live tv programmes like me. I keep getting a message saying 'technical fault try again later', but it's been like it now since 12 o'clock!

Heat can certainly affect broadband, particularly over copper circuits.

It's also possible that there's more demand when people are staying indoors.

Technical fault try again later is reported here almost daily regardless of weather.

Power off the TV best by unplugging give it a few moments and power up this generally clears the fault.

This is definitely because of the crazy hot weather we're having. I unplugged for a couple of hours to fully cool down and it's back running ok now.

One of my ISPs (Aquiss) posted this WhatsApp alert just prior to the heatwave

"... Extreme heat can affect broadband equipment, not only local to you within your property, but network equipment located up and down the streets of the UK. especially in direct sunlight, resulting in slower speeds or complete power-related issues.... If temperatures reach predictions, network equipment in some parts will reach operating conditions never seen before, therefore unexpected outcomes..."

You are posting in Sky Glass Forum

Sky Glass/Sky Stream has nothing to do with Sky Q

Sky Q is a Satellite receiver

Satellite reception is affected by weather heat and rain and wind

Sky Glass and Sky Stream does not operate from a Satellite it uses broadband connection it's not the same system as Sky Q

Those on copper broadband connection can be affected by extreme heat

Fiber Connection less so affected but if a router if close to a window can cause it to overheat when heat outside high regardless of type of broadband connection in use
