Not compatable. Unlike sky q box with optical cable my Sony surround sound worked perfect. Took delivery of gen 2 glass this morning and im not entirely convinced sound is as good as my 5.1. Rang sky told gen 2 is not compatible with 5.1 surround sound (Sony SS-IS15). Tried all 3 Hdmi on back of TV shopping connecting end to SAT, TV, DMPORT etc, not working.

Can anybody help , can I purchase Hdmi to Optical converters or do I just put up with sub standard Dobly Atmos built in sound ?

Your Sony system is rather old and does not have the HDMI ARC or eARC capability which Sky Glass uses to send audio to an external amplifier.

Your only option is an eARC extractor which converts the digital audio output to optical.

Optical audio connections cannot carry Dolby Atmos, only Dolby Digital 5.1 audio at best.

If you're not going to use the soundbar built in to a Sky Glass TV then you are probably much better off buying a regular smart TV which has an optical audio output built in.

What is the model number of your Sony sound system?
