Before I look into this can anyone whom has had both versions give an honest opinion if it was worth paying put the £900 again

It depends what kind of user you are, as there are obviously many people on here who will say it's not worth it becasue OLED, 120hz etc. etc.

But my honest review, as someone who is a perfect target for this sort of TV (i.e. I love the convenience of it but don't care about it being the absolute pinacle of technology) is that it's a worthwhile upgrade: Nothing has been massively improved, but everything has been improved just enough to make the overall experience a really good one – it almost sort of feels like Gen 1 was the beta test and Gen 2 is the solid version they would have wanted Glass to have been all along.

Plus, it has fixed my 3 major issues with Gen 1: 1) The screen looks good off-angle, I often sit to the side of the TV and couldn't see it well with the Gen 1; 2) the sound is way better, much closer to soundbar quality; 3) Sky haven't commented on the internal hardware but everything feels snappier scrolling through the OS, I haven't had to restart my TV yet.

In a nutshell – If you liked Gen 1, you'll love Gen 2 and might consider it worth your money upgrading. If you didn't like Gen 1, there's nothing new about Gen 2 that would change that and you'd probably want to look for a higher-spec TV anyway.

Honestly, love my sky glass G1 in my bedroom!

My smart TV in my lounge is on it's last legs because I'm happy with my G1 experience. I'm replacing my dying smart tv in my lounge with G2.

Therefore, the last paragraph of the post is perfect! Just like marmite, 'You either like it, or you dont.' Just marmite not expensive 🤣🤣🤣

I've had both. Sent back the gen2 after a few days and have since sold the gen1 too. They are only worth it if you are a Sky devotee who loves the UI and design of the set itself. Sound & picture quality was slightly improved on the gen2 but it's still nowhere near as good as it should be. Build quality was my biggest problem with the gen2. It does not feel like a TV costing close to a grand, particularly as I've just bought an OLED for a few pounds more (with a free 6 year warranty) which properly feels like a premium TV and absolutely blows Glass gen2 out of the water when it comes to build, image quality and useability.

Sky Glass is great for the mass market that it's designed for, and for those that can't afford a lump sum payment for a TV. I personally won't be buying one again.

Look at more reviews, I've just gone from gen1 to the 2, picture is slightly shaper but I'm disappointed with the sound, the gen1 actually sounds better imo, the gen 2 has lost bass in the sound bar, the louder you go you start losing the bass, it's very much noticeable. I'll be speaking with sky about this as a lot of people have been saying the same thing, I'm in 2 minds as to wether to send it back and just keep the gen1

I agree about the sound not being as good, normally I would normally have the Gen 2 Glass TV in the bedroom so was used a low volume levels.

It's been pressed into service in the Living Room while my Samsung 75" TV is in storage due to rewiring work taking place in the property.

I e read some people have sent them back and had replacements sent out, I've also read others saying the sound is better on the gen2 but I just can't hear it. It's a massive disappointment, the picture quality is slightly better. I'll be speaking with sky to see what they suggest, it's not about the money side of things, I'm just a tech guy and love to have the latest and best stuff but this feels a step back. Plus these aren't worth a lot of money when they come to sell on compared to what you pay.

Honestly wouldn't recommend although the picture and the sound quality are great. They are not very durable. Your paying sky gen 1 £900 for TV that will last not even 5 years. I've had two. First one came and was sent back same basically same day. Once I set it up it had pixels missing right from set up. The second one has lasted under 4 years with the same occurring issue a just randomly a whole line of dead pixels just randomly appeared. Spoke to sky the best they could do is offer me a refurbed replacement at a cost of £470 with no warranty and they would take the damaged to away hence therefore leaving me with a refurbished tv at the cost of total spent of almost £1400 which I think is diabolical and a absolute scam. Also gen 1 your limited to a certain amount of apps and can't even use the internet even though it's a ^premium smart tv^ what a joke

The Gen 1 ceased being available to new customers on the day the Gen 2 was released. That was in February 2025.

@Sharn98 unless you are going to pursue Sky through a small claims court action because goods were not of satisfactory quality, I'd suggest you just move on and get another TV.

Before you put in your order for Glass Gen 2 have a look to see what other TVs you can get for a similar expenditure e.g. £949 for a 65" Hisense OLED with Freely on eBay from a well known supplier 🤔
