4am TV wake up

Hello, I have a Sky Glass TV which we have fitted into a TV bed. The TV is connected to the bed via the HDMI-ARC cable so that when the TV is turned on using the sky remote, the TV rises out of the foot of the bed. Turn the TV off and it retracts back down. So far so good. However, at 4am every morning the TV rises out of the bed and back down again twice for no reason. I have been into settings and turned off anything that might be triggering this 'tv wake up'. I've hidden and removed batteries from the remote (the ncluding the bed remote). I think the TV is doing a silent hours update which is inadvertently making the bed think the TV is being turned on. The only way to stop it is to unplug the TV from the wall which isn't ideal. Any help greatly received.

It won't be an update, but it could be a reboot (Q television boxes do this overnight to deal with a memory leak, for example)

It could potentially be the set doing a regular overnight check-in to see if there is an update available for the device.

Hi @SamE123

Thanks for making us aware of this.

Our support have confirmed the TV is designed to conduct maintenance at this time of day and it is waking up from deep sleep mode to standby mode to conduct this. There is no way to stop the maintenance that we carry out and we understand that the bed is waking up using certain CEC traffic or HDMI 5v line activity, which isn't something that we have any control over unfortunately.

That is very disappointing as we bought the TV specifically to go into the bed.

If there is no way to fix this issue we will want to return it.

Can you please advise on the way to do this.

You'll need to call Sky to arrange this, as long as you're within the 31 day cooling off period.
Sky also charge £25 to return a Glass TV. Take photos of the TV before the courier arrives to collect it, just to prove the condition it was in when it left you. Couriers have been known to mishandle these TVs and the customer is sometimes blamed for damage they did not cause.

@SamE123 a simple workaround: fit a WiFi plug to wherever the Tv is plugged into and set it to turn off power to the TV overnight so it won't be 'woken up' remotely by Skys boffins. It will always check for and download updates when it is turned on again, so you won't be missing out on anything important.
